Patricia Chamblin received the Jefferson County Bar Association Professionalism Award at Law Day on May 7, 2010.  This honor is sponsored by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism and is awarded to a Jefferson County lawyer who others in the Bar seek to emulate and who is truly a "role model" for the Bar, particularly to younger or less experienced lawyers.  The recipient is a lawyer who is respected by his/her peers and makes all his/her peers proud of the profession.  This recipient is to exemplify the traits of civility, professionalism and ethical behavior.


Pat began practicing at MehaffyWeber in 1978. She became a shareholder in 1982.  She is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  During her 32 years of practice, Pat has specialized in civil litigation including the representation of health care providers and railroads. She more recently has focused on appellate work, mediation, and commercial litigation.  Her health care work involves defending hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in medical malpractice and other health care liability and premises claims. She also provides legal counsel to hospitals on a wide variety of matters including medical staff and patient care issues.

Pat chairs the firm's Risk Management Committee, her board positions include: Vice-Chair of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct Committee, Chair of the Board of Advisory Trustees for CHRISTUS Hospital, Texas Bar Foundation and Texas Lawyers Insurance Exchange.  She is past Chair of the State Bar's Rule 5.05/8.05 Subcommittee, and past President of both the Jefferson County Bar Association and the Michelle F. Mehaffy Inn of Court.
